5 Ways to Practice Nia at Home
I have found that it can be chalenging to motivate myself to practice Nia at home, unless I am learning a new routine to teach. It is just so much easier to sit on the couch watching TV. For a few days.
Then, my body begins to say, "Move me." And I move it in a variety of ways - running, taking other classes, etc. For example, right now I am in Brazil, where Nia does not exist. I've brought my DVD's but have not used them yet. One week without Nia. I've done 2 Zumba classes and 1 Samba class, walked in the park, and went to the gym.
But I've noticed something is missing. That yummy feeling only Nia can bring me. And I realize I am seeing Nia way too narrowly right now. Nia is MUCH more than only DVD's...
I can practice Nia at home in several ways:
- I can do the 5 Stages of Self-Healing for 5 minutes every day to align my chakras and prepare my body for movement
- I can do 1 song or more of Freedance, using the Nia handout to guide me to self-discovery and expression
- I can awaken my aching feet by practicing the exercises in the Nia handout to give them some relief
- I can play with the 5 Sensations of Fitness - Flexibility, Agility, Mobility, Strength, and Stability using the Nia handout to guide me
- I can dance my heart out with the the DVD's
I think I'll begin now...
