5 Ways to Practice Nia at Home

I have found that it can be chalenging to motivate myself to practice Nia at home, unless I am learning a new routine to teach.  It is just so much easier to sit on the couch watching TV.  For a few days.

Then, my body begins to say, "Move me." And I move it in a variety of ways - running, taking other classes, etc.  For example, right now I am in Brazil, where Nia does not exist.  I've brought my DVD's but have not used them yet.  One week without Nia.  I've done 2 Zumba classes and 1 Samba class, walked in the park, and went to the gym.

But I've noticed something is missing.  That yummy feeling only Nia can bring me. And I realize I am seeing Nia way too narrowly right now. Nia is MUCH more than only DVD's...

I can practice Nia at home in several ways:
  1. I can do the 5 Stages of Self-Healing for 5 minutes every day to align my chakras and prepare my body for movement
  2. I can do 1 song or more of Freedance, using the Nia handout to guide me to self-discovery and expression
  3. I can awaken my aching feet by practicing the exercises in the Nia handout to give them some relief
  4. I can play with the 5 Sensations of Fitness - Flexibility, Agility, Mobility, Strength, and Stability using the Nia handout to guide me
  5. I can dance my heart out with the the DVD's
Each of these are ways to personalize my Nia practice, take it deeper, and bring my body the kind of movement that heals it.

I think I'll begin now...
